Absolute Timer – My Very Own Boxing Timer
There are a million boxing, interval, MMA and HIIT timers. Some charge, some show ads, some have awful interfaces, and the rest are buried under so many App Store results that I can’t find them again. So I made Absolute Timer.
It’s perfect. For me, anyway. I built it exactly how I wanted it:
- A simple, clean interface. A big timer I can read in the middle of a round.
- No ads.
- Free. I already pay about $150 a year for an Apple developer account. Sucks to be me, I guess.
- Customisable, within reason. Set the round length, break length and number of rounds without wading through a billion options.
- Apple Watch controls. I can control the timer from my watch. Why is this so rare?
There are ready-made profiles for boxing, MMA, EMOM and E2MOM. The timer has sound, voice and haptic cues, and it keeps counting in the background.

“Why make this?” you wonder. Because a) it was a fun project, b) I couldn’t find anything quite lik eit, and c) because I wanted to.
I wrote it in Swift. It’s entirely self-contained, doesn’t collect any data (you can’t sign up to anything), and works really nicely. Feedback welcome!
Anyway, here it is on the App Store. If you train with rounds, give it a go.
